Excavation and field investigations

The Earth Measurements Laboratory has a number of equipped excavators to carry out soil investigations with the necessary field tests to know the nature of the subsurface layers and their properties. :
  • Rotary drilling using a Tri Cone drilling head and using water or air for cooling.
  • Sampling of sandy or clay soils with Standard Penetration Test.
  • Sampling of clay soils using Shelby Tubes.
  • Taking cylindrical samples from the rock layers using dedicated pipes (Double Tube Core Barrels) equipped with a diamond head whose hardness varies according to the nature of the rock in the studied site.
